Do 1 Thing has had a great 2015.  First of all we were honored to see our Co-Founder and Current Chair Ms. Ronda Oberlin chosen as one of six women this year to be inducted into the the 2015 International Women in Homeland Security and Emergency Management Hall of Fame. The 2015 Gala Dinner and Induction Ceremony was held on Saturday, November 14, 2015 during the annual IAEM-USA 63rd Annual Conference & EMEX Exhibit, at the Paris Hotel, Clark County, Nevada. It was a wonderful evening and Ronda was not alone in accepting this honor, our Lansing Office of Emergency Management Chief Michael Tobin, and I also had the honor of attending. Ronda was chosen for creating Do 1 Thing. It was easy to nominate Ronda because she is a exceptional mentor to myself and no one is more deserving of this award. The letters of support in her application were truly exceptional, as is everything Ronda has done in her career. Ronda joins a elite group of exceptional women who have paved the way for women in the Homeland Security and Emergency Management Hall of fame. From 2011 to 2014, 63 women and women's organizations were inducted into the Hall of Fame. To learn more about the Hall of Fame, please visit their official website at http://inwem.org/wp/.

We had the honor of presenting at many conferences this year; the Michigan Safety Conference in Lansing, Michigan, The IAEM-USA 63rd Annual Conference & EMEX Exhibit, at the Paris Hotel, Clark County, Nevada, The Show Me Partnerships Conference, in Columbia City, Missouri, and many more presentations, panels and fairs. We participated in the Oakland County's First Safety Day at the County Fair. We held a PreParathon in April at the Lansing City Hall with many Community Partners. We helped to coordinate the RSVP of Lansing's Safety PreParathon Event on September 30, 2015. We continue to gain new users and we are excited to be able to provide updated news in our monthly reminders. We recieved support in many different in kind and some financial support from The Target Cooperation, AAA of Michigan, The Lansing Board of Water and Light, The Michigan Region 1 Homeland Security Board, and the Michigan State Police Emergency Management and Homeland Security Division. The Michigan State Police and Homeland Security Division included us in the planning and made us a partner of the Annual Prepare Fair. We would not be here without our partners, and individuals who use our program. We believe that Emergency Preparedness Information should be free and accessibly to everyone. We also were able to update our website this year, and debut Do 1 Thing Business in the print ready booklet. Above all we thank everyone who supports, promotes, and believes in being prepared ahead of a emergency. We love to hear from you, and are always open to suggestions, and enjoy hearing your best practices. Please share the great things you and your programs are doing by sending a email to erika.mahoney@lansingmi.gov and on our social media site! We have many more updates to share of this year, but we wanted to give you all a quick overview of some highlights and wish you all a very Happy New Year!
